The city in a nutshell:

Nice is a posh holiday destination located on the French Riviera and surrounded by other fantastic destinations. As you will have seen most of Nice in one day, you can use the other days to explore other parts of the French Riviera.

Where to stay:

The best area is near the beach and the Promenade des Anglais. Obviously, the closer to the beach the more expensive it gets.

The Good:

Nice is a fine city during holiday season. Nice itself is not too big, so 1-2 days are more than enough to explore the city. The city’s Vieille Ville (Old Town) is lovely and Castle Hill offers the best viewpoint of Nice.

Restaurant quality is good. Although the food might not be a bargain, you will find excellent restaurants for everyone’s taste. Most of them are concentrated in old town.

The city is surrounded by Monaco, Cannes, St. Tropez and many cute coastal towns and all these places are worth a visit. Renting a car is not the worst idea.

Nice is also sort of a trend destination for many years. You can find many cheap flights (mostly with easyjet), which will be the only cheap price you will pay for this trip. πŸ˜‰

The Bad & The Ugly:

This city is too expensive, period. But the whole CΓ΄te d’Azur is like that. Hotel quality is not the best regarding the price you pay for. Expect to pay more than 180 Euros for a double room, which has the size of e shoe box. Generally, there are destinations with better value for money than Nice.

Obviously, Nice is a beach destination. The stony beach might not be to everyone’s taste though. I wouldn’t spend too much time there. You will find plenty of better beaches in neighbouring villages.

Although there are many people on the streets at night, nightlife concentrates on 2-3 venues – even in high season – which is a bit poor given the fact that the city has thousands of young tourists every day. Rumours say that Cannes and Monaco have better nightlife.
